The Unknown Identity

I always saw her while returning from school,
Clad in the same dress, carrying the same tool
She was always bent for the structure was fixed
Bound by age and time
She had small eyes, may be beautiful,
But now in hollows, over which rested a pair of old spectacles,
Showing its age by the cracks it had
She returned my smile with hers,
A smile, which spread over her hollowed dimpled cheek
The smile reflected the grace, which she once had
Or would still have if she were rich
Her face now covered with wrinkles represented the worries she bore
And yet she looked so kind and full of care
Nobody noticed her small presence,
For she was always there
Cutting the same grass with her same old tool
But she did appeal to me for the warm smile she gave,
And the tender look she yielded
And the hard work she did
Though very old and week she worked
Perhaps for her sons and daughters
And a respectable name
